August 2002 Vacation: Duck, North Carolina (Outer Banks)

Here is our Beach House for the week. Katie is in the driveway.

We had a nice view from our deck. The ocean is visible but, as you can see, we are a few blocks from the beach.

The beach was very nice. The first few days the waves were quite big and rough. Fortunately, we had gentle waves the last few days of our stay and Katie was able to get in and have a great time.

Here is Katie on the beach - finishing up a drawing in the sand.

Katie loved getting into the ocean. She had no fear of the waves coming in (sometimes over her). She would jump up or tread water and enjoyed riding the waves.

Carl also enjoyed the water and the waves.

We also visited some HUGE sand dunes. We were lucky that we arrived on a somewhat cloudy day (sand is HOT). We brought our kite along and Katie and Dad had no trouble getting the kite into the air.

We visited the Wright Brothers National Memorial and Park.
