The TAFOYA TIMPANI-CAM
was a huge success!!
Many who attended my clinic at PASIC thoroughly enjoyed this set up; making it possible for the audience to see where I was placing my mallets on the heads. This video set up is now used for many clinics and performances at this year's convention.
For the 2002 clinic, some general technical and musical aspects of orchestral timpani playing were discussed. The entire clinic was performed without interruption; using a CD that contained musical examples and, when necessary, my voice (while I retuned the timpani).
I also performed excerpts from: Mahler: Symphony No. 7, Brahms: Symphony No. 1, Holst: The Planets, Beethoven: Symphony No. 9, Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique, Mozart: Symphony No. 39, Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4, Strauss: Burleske, Strauss: Rosenkavalier, Debussy: La Mer, Gershwin: An American in Paris and Stravinsky: Firebird
